The Fall/Winter 2010 Bulletin announces an educational partnership between the University at Buffalo/MCEER and Haiti's Quisqueya University (UniQ), to organize and conduct earthquake engineering seminars for engineers, architects and students in Haiti. The seminar series is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by representatives of UniQ and UB/MCEER. The MOU also includes plans to create a master’s of earthquake engineering degree program at UniQ, and a Haiti Fulbright Scholarship at the University at Buffalo.
In other news, testing has begun on two full-scale bridges designed and built specifically to determine the performance of seismic isolation technology over time and over a wide spectrum of temperatures and other environmental conditions. More...
